Ingredients: Forsythia suspensa fruit, Lonicera japonica flower, Scutellaria baicalensis root.
 
In traditional Chinese medicine, this formula is used to clear heat and toxins, dispel wind, and release the exterior. It is applied for acute symptoms such as sore throat, throat swelling and pain, cough with yellow phlegm, dry mouth with bitter taste, fever, and other upper respiratory discomfort caused by wind-heat colds. It is commonly used to address what TCM describes as wind-heat invasion and internal accumulation of heat toxins, referring to upper respiratory discomfort caused by wind-heat pathogens. It is only suitable for wind-heat type cough, such as cough accompanied by fever, throat redness and swelling, thick yellow phlegm, dry mouth, and bitter taste. It is not suitable for wind-cold type cough, such as cough with thin white phlegm, fear of cold, and absence of sore throat, nor for phlegm-damp type cough with abundant sticky white phlegm, chest tightness, and greasy tongue coating, and it is also not suitable for dry cough with little or no phlegm, hoarse voice, and dry throat.
