In traditional Chinese medicine, this formula is used to clear heat, resolve phlegm, regulate qi, and relieve chest oppression. It is commonly applied for cough with rebellious qi, copious and sticky phlegm, chest congestion, difficulty in expectoration, and throat discomfort caused by phlegm-heat obstructing the lungs. Other accompanying symptoms may include bitter taste in the mouth, dry throat, irritability, or constipation. It is suitable for individuals with cough, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and excessive phlegm due to phlegm-heat accumulation and impaired lung qi. This formula focuses on clearing heat, dispersing the lungs, transforming phlegm, and directing qi downward. It helps to reduce cough and phlegm caused by phlegm-heat obstruction, relieve chest oppression and throat discomfort, and restore smooth breathing and qi movement. Selection tip: Phlegm-heat is usually characterized by thick, yellow phlegm that is difficult to expectorate, often accompanied by bitter taste and dry throat. If the phlegm is thin, white, and easily coughed up, it indicates cold-phlegm, for which this formula is not suitable.
