In traditional Chinese medicine, this formula is used to strengthen the spleen, dry dampness, transform phlegm and relieve dizziness. It is commonly applied to support conditions caused by internal blockage of dampness and upward disturbance of wind-phlegm, which manifest as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, chest congestion with phlegm, and a feeling of heaviness in the limbs. Patients may also experience recurrent vertigo attacks, tinnitus, fluctuating hearing, and unsteady gait, which resemble the symptoms described in modern medicine as Ménière's disease.
